VREDENSDAL, founded 2018 by The Goblin Reaper in Green Bay, Wisconsin - with the intention to alter the typical expectations of what Black Metal can be, integrating multiple influences into a single dynamic force to call out the primal desire within all to look deeper into our own inner shadow. Dubbed "N.W.O.U.S.B.M." by fans, the music features styles both, the familiar and the unknown, which weave a tapestry of homages to the masters of yesteryear and explore new takes on the genre, most often in a thrashing & grooving madness. The atmosphere of this album is fantastic. Makes you feel like you're knee-deep in the trenches drenched in mud, filth, sweat, and blood. Truly encapsulates the horrors of World War I, and the fact that the lyrics of some of the songs are taken from old war letters really adds to the authenticity. This is black metal that feels kind of raw and pure but not low-fi. The sound is done very well and it almost could be a great live recording. The guitar is most important for this release and it takes its influences from all sorts of metal and rock music making this sound so fresh. mourner

The first 30 seconds of "Revenge by Fire" convinced me to get the whole album! It is a face-melting blend of speed and black metal, reminiscent of Hellripper! KVAEN is a Swedish solo project much like Hellripper but many known guest musicians helped J. Björnfot in his endeavor. Altogether it is really a solid debut album, I loved the melodies and the pace changes in the second half too, ending with a "calm" instrumental one. Well-done!! sachavonkarl74
