rvss.eel I am a huge fan of Schöpfungswut, Porta Nigra's previous album. The stylistic change from there to here is huge. Each album has a striking uniqueness, as opposed to this being a progression of the same sound. Where previously songs were dominated by repeating, melodic black metal lines, Weltende brings a stomping energy, full of melodic riffs that are now faster and briefer, packed between the chugging weight of the forward march. The vocals are expressive as ever. Black metal with character. Favorite track: Götterblut.

The atmosphere of this album is fantastic. Makes you feel like you're knee-deep in the trenches drenched in mud, filth, sweat, and blood. Truly encapsulates the horrors of World War I, and the fact that the lyrics of some of the songs are taken from old war letters really adds to the authenticity.
